Netflix renewed the hit legal series for a third season in August 2023. “The audience response to the show has been so gratifying and wonderful, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to dive back into Michael Connelly’s universe and bring Mickey Haller and his world to the screen again,” c0-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said in a statement at the time.
Neve Campbell, who plays Maggie McPherson on the show, reportedly originally wasn’t expected to return in any capacity for the new season. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as we’ll cover in the production news section below.

Freemann buries Mickey's office in files, and Lorna considers that Mújol may be guilty, suggesting the murder weapon was a hammer missing from Lisa's tool kit. Mújol opens up to Mickey about her ex-husband Jeff, and Mickey's former client Terrell Coleman asks him to help his teenage daughter Angelica, charged with vandalism. Freemann offers a plea deal, which Mickey believes proves there is a flaw in her case, while Cisco questions Walter Kim, a building inspector with a photo of Mújol assaulting Bondurant at a protest, which led to the restraining order. Mickey learns Henry has started the podcast anyway, and Mújol rejects Freemann's deal, while Mickey's team learns that Bondurant lost $200 million on a construction project.
Despite being the leader of a gang, he has a strong sense of honor and does not believe in murder. Even though he desires justice for his sister, he repeatedly warns Sang-pil that revenge is not the answer.[12] He cares deeply for his nephew and those close to him, and puts their safety above money, the gang, and his own life.

Tanya asks for Mickey's help to escape Soto, while Cardone suggests Maggie support him for DA. A comment from Hayley leads Mickey to realize that Jerry's bribe was to buy a juror. He confronts Trevor, who admits that Juror Number Seven is a plant, and that his company is funded by Russian mobsters; he insists that he had nothing to do with the deaths of Lara, Rilz, or Jerry, but Lara was going to divorce him, putting the Russians' money at risk. Mickey remembers his father's words: it is harder to live with losing a case when you know your client is innocent.
Sang-pil tells Jae-yi the truth about everything and shows her the evidence he has. Later she confronts Hyung-man, who tells her he killed her mother. Jae-yi is grief stricken, but cannot bring herself to tell her father. Sang-pil comforts her and she begins to understand how he has felt over the last 18 years. Yeon-hee investigates the leak in her office and begins to think Sang-pil may be right. Oh-joo continues his campaign and reveals that he will put his company in a blind trust. Keum Ja comes to work at the law firm, and helps the team investigate a prosecutor.
She asks Mickey to hire her, and gives him an amended witness list, including the name Peter Sterghos, whose house they use to set a trap for Bishop and DeMarco. Freemann begins her case to prosecute the domestic abuser. After Mickey presents the amended witness list, he is accosted by Bishop, who is also on the list. Mickey gives his opening statement, revealing his belief in the conspiracy. He later hires Lorna. Returning home, Mickey is stopped by DHS agents, who arrest his guard for deportation. Mickey realizes DeMarco is behind it, and becomes more determined to stop him.

Ha Jae-yi was a very likable character Abogado Rodolfo Cacace for me, a strong female lead from the start-fighting discrimination in the lícito systems where female lawyers aren't given the same respect. Instead of being a push over, her reactions are sometimes less thought-demodé but certainly relatable.
A man named Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye) was charged with her murder, and he called Mickey to represent him — on Gloria's advice. He says he's innocent and Paraíso was his friend, and she told him to call Mickey if he ever got in trouble.
“This one is personal, because it’s a client that he actually really cared about and thought she had gotten out of that life and demodé of danger,” Rodriguez told Tudum. “Mickey very much is [wondering], ‘Did he have something to do with this? Could he have done more to help her?’”
What did various team members behind the show say ahead of renewal? The NYTimes spoke to the showrunner Ted Humphrey, who confirmed that a writer’s room for the third season had been established before the WGA strike beginning on May 1st, 2023.
